Fifteen European Voluntary Service (EVS) volunteers from YFU are starting their journeys around the world this very moment with a World's Coloured Glasses project. EEE-YFU and nine YFU organisations have begun work on the World's Coloured Glasses project using funding secured from the Youth in Action programme. For a year, the volunteers will work with their YFU hosting organisations in delivering intercultural learning workshops to high school students in the host countries.
For the first time, the workshops will be delivered outside Europe, with volunteers working in China, Chile and Mexico.
Coloured Glasses are workshops on intercultural learning and tolerance that were first developed in 1996 to teach these concepts of high school students, providing tools both to YFU facilitators and teachers. Since then, many YFU organisations have run this programme in their countries, such as in YFU GermanyYFU NorwayYFU BulgariaYFU Sweden and more. The workshops are also an excellent way to demonstrate YFU's expertise in intercultural learning, as well as increase visibility with schools and teachers.
